Washington gets home sweep over Cashion
It took the top-ranked team in Class 3A to give Cashion its first loss of the season.
Undefeated Washington built a solid first-half lead then didn’t allow a Cashion comeback in a 60-44 home win last Friday.
Class 2A’s ninth-ranked Lady Wildcats fell behind nine points after a quarter and were down 16 at halftime.
Junior Breanna Lindert led all scorers with 21 points while Shelby Caveness added 16 and Kelby Beller 13 as Washington moved to 7-0.
Meanwhile, Cashion had just one scorer reach double digits.
Lauren Jenkins scored 18 as Cashion dropped to 5-1.
The Lady Wildcats return to action Jan. 2 when they host Oklahoma Bible Academy.
Warriors’ depth too much
Washington held Cashion to 31 percent shooting Friday en route to a 51-35 home win.
The Warriors’ heavy rotation eventually wore down Cashion, which shot just 11 of 35 from the field. That included going 2 of 14 (14 percent) from 3-point range.
The host Warriors built up a 19-10 lead after a quarter and gradually pulled away from the visiting Wildcats.
Jace Myers led Washington with 16 points.
Nathan Nabavi paced Cashion with 18 points.
Ashton Moore added six.
Cashion was without Kamden Miller for a second straight game after suffering an ankle injury the prior weekend.
The loss dropped Cashion to 4-2.
