KHS turnovers improved, still prove costly in defeat at Cache
Kingfisher cut down on its turnovers, but not enough to reverse its fortunes.
The Jackets were dealt a 64-31 defeat at the hands of Cache last Friday.
The road loss was Kingfi sher’s last game before the Christmas break and dropped its season record to 1-6.
In their three previous games, the Jackets averaged just under 30 turnovers.
They knocked that number down considerable, suffering only 18 giveaways against Cache.
However, the hosts still managed to turn them into 29 points.
Cache ended the first quarter on a 6-0 run to stake a 16-9 lead.
The Bulldogs extended it to 33-19 by halftime.
The Jackets shot 29 percent for the game, which included 23 percent (3 of 13) from 3-point range.
They were led by Coleman Gilles’ eight points and six rebounds.
Jhett Birdwell added seven points while Matthew Mecklenburg and Jake Reagan scored six apiece.
Cache’s balanced attack saw James Carter Jr. and Camden Hance lead the way with 11 points each.
