Dover proved in its season opener that it’s a much-improved team.
Lomega proved in its season opener that Dover still has a ways to go to reach the standard in Class B girls basketball.
The Lady Raiders buried Dover under a pile of firsthalf points last Friday before cruising to a 74-46 road win.
Dover opened its season three days earlier with a 51-point win over Cimarron, but found itself trailing Lomega 33-10 after a quarter.
“Our press hurt them really bad,” said Lomega coach Kevin Lewallen, whose program has won 55 straight games.
“We played really well in that first half.”
Darcy Roberts torched the Lady Longhorns with four first-quarter 3-pointers.
She had 16 points by the end of the quarter, 21 at halftime and 25 for the game.
Lomega had eight treys in the first half.
Abby Swart collected the other four, two in each of the first two quarters.
She ended her night with 16, all in the first half as Lomega built its lead to 54-19.
Dover got 13 points from Katelyn Harviston, six of which came in the third quarter.
Karlee Harviston added 11.
Chloe Meier chipped in 12 for Lomega, all in the second half.
