Okarche put the clamps on Thomas last Friday night.

The Lady Warriors held their hosts to their lowest point total of the season in a 40-28 victory.

The win was Okarche’s fourth in its last five games.

Thomas was held to single digits in each of the first three quarters as Okarche built a nine-point lead.

The Lady Warriors then did enough at the free throw line to put the game away.

Okarche was 8 of 13 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter.

Katie Parham did a bulk of that as she was 7 of 9.

The Okarche sophomore led all scorers with 16 points. She scored 12 of Okarche’s 15 in the fourth quarter.

Scout Payne also came up big as she made three 3-pointers and scored 11.

Two of those treys came in the first quarter as Okarche got out to a 10-3 lead.

The Lady Warriors extended it to 20-10 by halftime.

Okarche was 10-6 after the victory.

Warriors ‘struggle’ in 34-point win

The Thomas boys returned the favor by putting the clamps on Okarche.

Well…sort of. The Warriors were held to their own season low, but still won handily, 7743.

“They’re a good, solid team with everyone back from last year,” coach Aaron West said of the Terriers, who suffered just their third loss of the season.

West said his team missed “a lot of easy shots,” noted the Warriors were just 3 of 20 from 3-point range and his team suffered through foul trouble.

“The bench provided us some good minutes,” West said after his team moved to 16-0.

Okarche got 19 points off the bench, including six each from Macklin Smith and Ethan Kirby. Smith also had five rebounds.

The Warriors were led by Jett Mueggenborg’s 23 points and 16 rebounds.

Easton Roby also provided a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards.

Hunter Mueggenborg delivered nine points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Okarche out-rebounded the Terriers 51-25 and scored 20 second-chance points.
