Cashion homecoming sees wins over Crescent
After a stretch of playing three consecutive ranked teams, Cashion’s schedule lightened up a bit last Friday.
The Lady Wildcats responded with a relatively easy 63-29 homecoming victory against Crescent.
Madison Westerhoff was crowned homecoming queen and Drake Woody the king before the games.
Once they got started, Crescent, with just three wins so far this season, was able to hang with Cashion for the first quarter.
The home team led 14-10, but dominated the rest of the way.
The lead was 13 at halftime and 23 by the end of the third quarter.
Megan Shafer and Abby Hobgood led four Cashion players in double figures with 14 points apiece.
Jaylee Harp added 13 points while Brooke Shafer scored 11 as Cashion improved to 10-6 on the season.
The Wildcats got their second win over Crescent in a week.
They beat their rivals by three points in the semifi nals of the Three Rivers Conference Tournament the previous Monday.
Cashion came back Friday to earn a 51-41 victory.
Woody produced gamehighs of 15 points and eight rebounds in leading the Wildcats.
Crescent was up a point after a quarter, but Cashion claimed a three-point lead at halftime and pushed it to four points after three quarters.
The Wildcats then outscored Crescent 17-11 in the fourth.
The 41 points tied Crescent’s lowest output of the season as the Tigers were limited to 36 percent shooting on the night, including just 4 of 14 (28 percent) from 3-point range.
Cashion got nine points from Parker Mitchell and eight from Carson Gump as it improved to 12-4.
