The most recent series still has the Kingfisher High School baseball team seeking its first district win.

The Jackets were dealt losses of 8-2 and 11-1 by Bishop McGuinness on Monday and Tuesday as they fell to 0-4 in District 4A-4.

KHS was 1-8 overall after Tuesday’s six-inning loss at home.

Cooper Henley’s arm kept Kingfisher in it through four innings. The junior gave up just two hits and struck out six through those frames as McGuinness managed to take advantage of its limited success to score three runs.

But Kingfisher’s offense couldn’t match it.

The Jackets had just three hits in the game and struck out 11 times.

The Irish finally broke through in the fifth and plated six runs to earn some breathing room.

Henley pitched five innings and struck out seven while surrendering seven hits.

Seven of the nine runs were earned.

Kingfisher scored in the bottom of the sixth when Carter Stephenson reached on an error and scored on another error.

Stephenson, Henley and Jagger Braun accounted for the Jackets’ three hits.

KHS had six hits in Monday’s road loss and was in it well into the late innings.

Brett Calamateo walked to lead off the sixth, then scored on Trypp Lack’s triple to pull the Jackets within 4-2.

However, the Irish sent four runners home in the bottom half of the frame to seal the win.

Lack had two of Kingfi sher’s hits and the lone RBI.

He also pitched six frames and gave up just four earned runs. Kingfisher committed six errors.

Chace Cooper and Abe Prieto collected Kingfisher’s other hits. Prieto, who singled in the seventh, walked and scored a run in the top of the third to give KHS a 1-0 lead.

The Irish answered with four runs over the next two frames.
