Drummond picks up basketball sweep against Dover
Drummond found a way to cool off Dover from the perimeter and turned it into a runaway win at home.
After making five 3-pointers in the first half, the Longhorns were scoreless from behind the arc in the second last Friday as they were dealt a 71-46 defeat.
Emory Norton made three treys for Dover in the second quarter as the Longhorns outscored Drummond 18-16 and pulled within 25-23 at halftime.
But the Bulldogs were just heating up as Dover went ice cold.
Tyler Norris made three of his six treys in the third quarter as Drummond opened a 13-point lead.
Dover managed just nine points in the fourth as the deficit continued to swell.
Norris made six total treys and led all scorers with 20 points.
Norton made four of Dover’s five 3-pointers and scored 13 points, all in the first half.
Kolten Shaw added 13, eight of which came in the second half.
Pedro Valles and Damion Turner scored seven apiece as Dover fell to 1-2.
Lady Longhorns struggle in second half
Dover’s offense disappeared in the fourth quarter as Drummond took down the Lady Longhorns 48-31 last Friday.
Dover had no field goals and scored just two points over the game’s final eight minutes as the Lady Longhorns dropped their second straight game and fell to 1-2.
Katelyn Harviston scored six points in the second quarter as Dover outscored its hosts 10-6 and took a one-point halftime lead.
She added six more in the third while Karlee McNulty scored all five of her points, but Drummond started to take command of the game.
The Lady Bulldogs posted 20 points to take the lead while also turning up the pressure.
Dover committed 20 turnovers in the second half alone as Drummond slowly pulled away.
Harviston led Dover with 13 points.
