Wildcats get defensive against Dibble
LaGasse has pair of pick-6’s as Cashion rolls over Demons, 48-14
Landon LaGasse caught four touchdown passes Friday in Cashion’s win over Dibble to open the playoffs.
One came from the arm of his quarterback, Ben Harman.
The other two were thrown by Dibble QB Eli Rimer.
LaGasse was part of Cashion’s dominance on offense as defense as the Wildcats rolled the visiting Demons 48-14 in the first round of the Class A bracket.
The win was Cashion’s 10th straight. The 10-1 Wildcats will host Hooker (10-1), which dominated Boone-Apache 57-8, at 7 p.m. Friday.
Dibble managed just 101 total yards and six first downs against Cashion’s improving defensive unit.
“I thought we were really good on that side of the ball,” Shackelford said.
Rimer completed as many passes to LaGasse as he did his own receivers.
He threw for 33 yards. Lagasse’s first pick covered 50 yards.
That gave the Wildcats a 27-0 lead in the first quarter.
After the Demons got their only offensive touchdown of the game in the second quarter, LaGasse returned his second interception 60 yards for a touchdown.
The Wildcats led 41-7 at halftime.
Harman had just two incompletions on the night.
His 12 completions covered 280 yards.
He threw TD passes of 57 and 6 yards to Mason Manning, who was his top target on the night.
Manning caught seven passes overall. They covered 160 yards.
LaGasse’s two catches netted him 73 yards. He had a 42-yard touchdown in the first.
The Wildcats tacked on 165 rushing yards.
Harman managed 74 of them, including a 60-yard scoring run in the third quarter after Dibble opened the half with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Kaleb Duran’s seven rushes got his 33 yards.
Gavin Phippen’s eight total tackles led the team.
Jackson Vandruff added seven more.
