OHS boys grab pair of wins
Okarche boys coach Aaron West had been seeking better defensive performances from his team.
The Warriors responded last Friday by holding Lomega to five points in the fourth quarter to grab their first win of the season, 55-48.
Okarche had given up 72 and 69 points in its first two games, but held Lomega to 44 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers.
The Raiders went just 7 of 25 (28 percent) from 3-point range as they fell to 2-1 on the season.
They outscored Okarche 15-10 in the third quarter to pull within a point.
However, the production dried up in the fourth quarter.
Owen Duffy scored 14 points to lead Lomega.
Kelby Ott added 10 points and also had nine rebounds. Blake Snowden scored nine.
The Warriors got 18 points from Trenton Neiderer.
All of his points came from beyond the arc.
The senior was 6 of 10 from long range. The rest of the team was just 3 of 16.
Caden Schieber added 10 points and nine rebounds. Evan Endres scored nine while Brayden Stover had six points and 10 boards.
Okarche then evened up its record Saturday with a 72-47 home win against Turner.
The Falcons were forced into 23 turnovers and 44 percent shooting.
Okarche led by five after a quarter and by 12 at halftime and continued to build on it.
Neiderer again nailed six 3-pointers and led the team with 21 points.
Schieber contributed 14 points and 15 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive end.
