Dover splits ‘farewell’ contests
Dover’s Lady Longhorns said farewell to their “old” gym Friday with a 50-21 win over Ninnekah (Note: See related story on Page 1.)
The Lady Longhorns (17-5) took command early and led 18-5 after a quarter before extending it to 35-9 by the half.
Karlee Harviston led all scorers with 18 points, including 14 in the first half.
Katelyn Harviston added 14 and Ashley Gamez scored 10.
••• Ninnekah took home a win in the boys game as it closed strong in a 44-32 victory.
The Owls built a 14-point lead in the second quarter before Dover closed the half on a 9-0 run.
Luis Ruiz opened the third quarter with a threepoint play to pull Dover within 26-24.
It was still a two-point game after three, but the Owls closed on an 11-3 run.
They were led by J.J. Jerdee’s 23 points.
Dover (7-14) got 15 points out of Carlos Flores and nine from Ruiz.
