Now Kingfisher’s movie theatre will once again be up and running in all three auditoriums after the one with the largest capacity seating was shut down for over three years. Nancy Striegl, 89er Theatre manager, left, was on hand for the installation, which is expected to take two days to complete. Due to interruptions in the supply chain forced by the COVID shutdown that began in late 2019, the new equipment ordered took well over three years to arrive. Local electricians were on hand to implement the installation. Striegl said that she hoped to have all three screens operating next week. “We’re very excited to be offering three movies to our market again. It’s been a long time coming,” she said. “Finally, new movies are becoming more available after the COVID shutdown. It was hard enough to find two quality movies for our community for the past three years. The entire industry suffered for a long, long time. Many theaters, large and small, closed down across the nation, never to reopen. We’re thankful our Kingfisher theatre survived and we think the worst is behind us now and better days are ahead,” she added. 89er Theatre has upgraded equipment continuously since it opened for business in late 2005. All three projectors are now of upgraded state-of-the-art digital quality, with matching electronic circuitry, sound and silver screen equipment. [KT&FP Staff Photo]
