Read moreThe frigid and prolonged blast of arctic temperatures combined with heavy snowfall left area residents in the unusual predicament of having to shovel their way out of driveways and sidewalks. That was a problem for many residents with neither the equipment nor the physical ability to wield a snow shovel for a couple hours. We asked our Facebook friends to share photos of friends and neighbors who came to the rescue and these were the submissions. Top left: Maria Sandor reported that Desiree Austin cleared the sidewalk on South Main Street from Bowman Avenue to Erwin Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.
