Teams advance to Game Day finals
All three local cheer squads were able to advance to the finals of last weekend’s Game Day state competition in Moore.
Ultimately, Kingfisher placed sixth in Class 4A while in Class 2A, Cashion was fourth and Crescent fifth.
Crescent was 2A’s defending champion and was third after the preliminary round.
The team scored 603.6 in that round and sat behind Haworth and Arkoma.
Cashion was in fourth place.
The top-six teams advance from the prelims to the finals.
In the finals, Cashion managed a 257.8 to edge out Crescent’s 256.4.
Dibble won the state crown with a 261.4, just .2 better than Haworth.
In Class 4A, Kingfisher and Bridge Creek were the lone public schools to advance to the finals.
The KHS squad just made it as it placed sixth with a 586.6 in the prelims.
Pauls Valley was seventh with a 588.2.
In the finals, KHS scored 242.8 points for its finish.
Crossings Christian won the state championship with a 276.4.
Bridge Creek was state runner-up with its 268.6.
