KHS girls snag another XC victory
Chalk up another win for the Kingfisher High School girls.
The Lady Jackets were the top team at last Saturday’s OBA/ Chisholm Cross Country Meet in Enid.
KHS won the largeschool portion of the meet with just 46 points.
Runner-up Watonga scored 106.
All five of Kingfisher’s scoring runners finished in the top 15 of the 108-person race that covered 3,200 meters.
That group was led by Liberty Starr, who was in eighth place overall and had a score placing of sixth. She finished in 12:56.18.
Chesni Newkirk was 11th (8th) and Katon Lunsford 12th (9th) for the Lady Jackets.
Jacee Mueggenborg was just two spots behind Lunsford and Ally Stephenson one place behind Mueggenborg.
The large school race featured 13 teams.
Hennessey was ninth and led by Jamie Torres and Taryn Jech.
Torres took 18th (15th) while Jech was just one spot back.
Lomega’s girls took second in the smallschool race with 48 points.
They were edged by Balko’s 43.
Aubree Geisler ran third overall and second in score placing in 14:07.78.
Kate Myers was also in the top-10 overall.
Conner Hine paced Kingfisher’s boys as he was fourth overall in a large-school race with 136 competitors.
He finished the 5K event in 18:08.41.
Lomega was third among the small-school boys teams with 68 points. Timberlake won with just 24.
Austin Chestnut was 11th (10th) and Jesse Johnston 15th (12th) to lead the Raider squad.
Kingfisher Middle School made it a clean sweep for the girls teams.
The Lady Jackets won their meet with 63 points while Weatherford was second with 106.
Scout Snodgrass picked up yet another win on the season as she completed the 2,500 meter course in 9:53.59. She was nearly 14 seconds faster than the runner-up.
Lily Lunsford was seventh (sixth), Harper Evans 15th (14th) and Kinley Taylor 17th (15th) to lead the KMS team.
The Hennessey boys were sixth and Kingfisher boys were eighth among the middle school teams.
Hennessey’s Brok Cooper was 10th overall and fifth in score placing.
Rhett Schlegel of Kingfisher was just one place behind Cooper.
