On top of nearly pitching a shutout, Crescent’s defense had five takeaways against the visiting Tigers.

Crescent didn’t get on the board until early in the second quarter.
Tanner Rice put an end to the scoreless portion of the game with a 5-yard touchdown run just over a minute into the quarter.
Tayon Johnson followed with a 20-yard score later in the quarter as the host Tigers led 16-0 at halftime.
Crescent went to the air in the second half to find scores.

The ground game - and defense - did the rest.
Luke Descher toted the ball 18 times for 82 yards and scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter as Crescent pushed its lead to 37-0.
Rice added 69 yards on 17 carries while Johnson’s 11 attempts netted 36 yards.
While Newkirk was able to strike for 150 yards through the air, the visitors had no success on the ground.

The Tiger defense was led by Rice’s five total tackles.
Johnny Rider and Johnson had four tackles apiece.
Crescent (3-1) is off this week before it begins District A-3 action against Tonkawa (currently 2-1) on Oct. 1.
