Late scoring woes cost KHS girls
Scoring struggles in the fourth quarter kept the Kingfisher girls basketball team from pulling off a top-10 upset.
Harding Charter Prep outscored KHS 17-7 over the final eight minutes to pull out a 45-40 victory in Oklahoma City.
The game was scheduled Monday as both programs were searching to make up for a lost game.
Harding Charter entered the week ranked ninth in Class 4A. KHS is ranked 11th.
It was the Lady Jackets who led throughout much of the night.
The game was tied at 12 after a quarter, but KHS took a 20-19 halftime lead.
Harding took a brief one-point lead in the third, but the Lady Jackets were on top 33-28 entering the fourth.
That advantage even reached double digits, but KHS was just 2 of 8 from the field in the fourth quarter.
Allison Green paced KHS with 17 points.
KHS also got nine points from Ally Stephenson and six from Britt Taylor.
Kendra Gillispie, who has signed to play at Marquette, scored 10 points and had eight rebounds for Harding.
KHS was 12-6 after the loss.
