    Betty J. McKinnis, 91, formerly of Kingfisher, passed away with her family by her side Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Moore where she had resided since September 2024.

    A memorial service was Sunday, March 2, at Kingfi sher Church of Christ and will be officiated by Ken Richter.

    Interment will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery.

    Betty was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Archer City, Texas, to Leo C. and Hazel Maude Thompson Perry.

    She graduated high school in Iowa Park, Texas, and attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.

    Primarily a homemaker, Betty did work part-time for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in the early 1970s and then was the editor of Tele-Topics for Pioneer Telephone Cooperative in the 1980s.

    She was a member of the Kingfisher Church of Christ, was active in the Kingfisher County Democrats Association, served on the library board and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

    She filled her family’s life with piano music and singing.

    Betty is survived by her children Monte Lawler of Moore, Janie Erwin and husband Bobby of Kingfi sher and Arnie McKinnis of Edmond; siblings Neva (Ernie) Dale of Moore and Donna Peterson of Kingfi sher; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Kay McKinnis, sister Gwen Warren, brother-in-law Ralph Warren, brother Roy Perry and sister-in-law Janet Perry.

    The family requests memorial donations in Betty’s memory be made to the Kingfisher County Friends of the Library.
