For a quarter, it appeared Chickasha was going to be able to keep up with Kingfisher.

For the remaining three quarters?

That wasn’t the case. KHS and the host Lady Fightin’ Chicks were tied after the first eight minutes, but the visitors dominated the rest of the night in a 63-32 victory.

Kingfisher’s offense kept up. The defense got better.

After giving up 17 first-quarter points, the Lady Jackets only surrendered 15 the rest of the game.

By night’s end, Chickasha had 24 turnovers and shot less than 32 percent from the field.

Chickasha had three different players make a 3-pointer in the first, but didn’t have any the rest of the night.

The Lady Jackets took control in the second quarter with an 18-4 run.

Five different KHS players scored at least two points during the run.

Chickasha’s 6-foot-2 post Ashlynn Smith tried to keep her team in it.

She had 15 points through three quarters, but eventually wore down. She led her team with 16 points and four boards, but was the only Lady Chick in double figures.

Kingfisher answered with four in double figures and two more who just missed.

Ela Hartman led the team with 13 points.

The freshman also had six rebounds and three assists.

Mattie Slezickey made a 3-pointer in every quarter. She was 4 for 5 from long range and finished with 12 points and four steals.

Reese Roof and Raegan Snider scored 11 apiece.

Snider had a game-high nine rebounds while Roof provided four assists.

Abbie Myers scored nine points while Adlee Friesen added eight, all in the first half. Both players pulled down eight rebounds while Friesen also collected four steals.

The move pushed KHS to 7-2 on the season while Chickasha’s record evened up at 5-5.
