Peggy Pauline Ruth Ahlefeld Kauffman was born Feb. 13, 1933, to Elmer (Pete) and Pauline (Traylor) Ahlefeld in Crescent.

She was baptized, confi rmed and married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okarche and attended St. John’s Lutheran School and Okarche High School, where she was on the girls’ basketball team.

Peggy was married on Dec. 26, 1952, and on Dec. 24, 1953, she had her daughter, Deborah, in Bremerton, Wash.

On June 27, 1955, her twin daughters, Paulette and Lynette, were born in Okarche.

Peggy began her life as a single mother of three girls as a cosmetologist in Kingfisher.

In 1966, she decided she needed to build a better life for her and her girls and went to work at Western Electric in Oklahoma City, where she was on the assembly line building telephone parts, retiring in 1997 after 30 years.

Peggy was a loving mother and grandmother. When she and her girls moved to Okarche following her divorce, everything she did was in the best interest of her girls.

She had the help of her parents, with whom they lived until 1973, and of her sister, Shirley and her husband, Kenneth. Peggy loved being involved in the lives of her grandchildren.

She could often be seen at Lyric Theater watching Matt in his latest play, or attending football and baseball games in Bartlesville, watching Greg and Jeff. She also made it to Corpus Christi, Texas, to see Chris as often as she could.

Peggy was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a big OU Sooners fan. She enjoyed working at the voting booth with Nancy Bomhoff and the crew, knitting afghans for each of her kids and grandkids and anyone else who “needed” one, getting her hair done and going out to eat, which was her favorite.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Pauline Ahlefeld; her grandparents, Jess and Myrtle Traylor and August and Sophie Ahlefeld; brotherin- law Kenneth Todd; and grandson Greg Mueggenborg.

She is survived by her sister Shirley Todd and daughters Deborah (Dennis) Mueggenborg, Paulette (Corky) Stout and Lynette Beebe.

She is also survived by grandchildren Matt (Emily) Brown, Chris (Leah) Beebe, Jeff (Tess) Mueggenborg, Cliff (Kelly) Stout, Melissa Stout and Phillip Stout; and great-grandchilden John Mueggenborg, Samantha Mueggenborg, Ethan Beebe, Cate Mueggenborg and Stephanie Stout (Jeff Rice); great-great-granddaughter Kataleya Stout; and numerous great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks go out to Homestead Assisted Living of Bethany for their love and care during the three years Peggy resided there and Pastor Joel Heckmann for his visits and encouragement .
