Chisholm run attack too much for Eagles
The first seven minutes belonged to Hennessey.
The next 41 - and the game - were dominated by Chisholm.
After scoring the game’s first 13 points last Friday, the Eagles had no answer for Chisholm’s run game in a 56-13 road loss.
The Eagles scored with defense, special teams and offense to stake their early lead.
Kelson Hamilton recorded a tackle for a safety, Luis Macias-Montoya booted a 41-yard field goal and Gunnar Holder found Jakob Johns for a 34-yard touchdown.
That last score gave the Eagles their 13-point advantage, but Malachi Bennet’s 5-yard touchdown run before the end of the quarter started an avalanche of points for the home team.
Bennett and Kelson Hamilton combined to score five touchdowns and rushed for more than 300 yards.
Overall, the Longhorns ran for 323 yards on 46 attempts.
Meanwhile, Hennessey’s offense went mostly stagnant.
The Eagles were held to minus-6 rushing yards while Holder threw for 106.
However, Chisholm also had three interceptions, including a pick-six in the fourth quarter.
Johns had three catches total for 50 yards. He also had 12 tackles on defense.
Brandon Rodriguez led the team with 15.
It was the second straight week for Hennessey to stake an early lead only to let it get away.
The Eagles were up 23-0 on Cashion in the first half last week before falling 29-26.
Hennessey travels to Crescent Friday for its final non-district game. Crescent opened its season Friday with a 21-12 victory against Morrison.
