CHS works hard to sweep OBA
A mental mistake by Kamden Miller could have cost Cashion its game.
But it didn’t. Then the junior made up for it.
Millers’ three-point play in overtime was the catalyst in a 46-45 victory Tuesday against visiting Oklahoma Bible Academy.
The guard drove the lane and scored while being fouled with 59.7 seconds left. His subsequent free throw put Cashion up 4441, a lead the Wildcats eventually pushed to five before pulling out the win.
Cashion had a chance at the last shot in regulation, but Miller went back court after a Wildcat timeout.
The turnover didn’t prove costly as OBA gave it right back to the Wildcats, who missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win.
Once Cashion built its five-point lead in OT, the Trojans cut it to three with 17.7 seconds left.
Nathan Nabavi missed a pair of free throws for the opportunity to ice the game, but OBA couldn’t capitalize and only scored a bump off the glass as time expired.
Carson Gump paced Cashion with 14 points.
Nabavi scored nine while Miller added eight as Cashion moved to 5-2.
Lady Wildcats get comeback win
Cashion spotted visiting OBA a huge lead in the girls game.
Then took it all back… and more.
Down 16 points after a quarter, the Lady Wildcats stormed back for a 60-52 victory on Tuesday night.
Lauren Jenkins scored 23 points to lead the way, but had plenty of help.
Four different Cashion players reached double figures.
Most of it was needed as OBA staked a 22-6 lead after a quarter. Cashion cut into it, but the Lady Trojans were still up 32-21 at halftime.
The second half was almost all Cashion.
The home team had its deficit down to just two points after three quarters then closed the game with a 21-11 run.
Madison Westerhoff and Megan Shafer scored 12 points apiece while Reese Williams contributed 10.
The win pushed Cashion to 6-1 heading into the conference tournament.
