Duffy 200 PR at state paves way to silver
Owen Duffy nearly pulled off a repeat of his track and field state championship.
The Lomega High School senior ran a personal- best 22.10 in the finals of the 200 meter dash Saturday at the Class A state track and field meet at Western Heights.
However, Duffy was edged at the line by Snyder’s Ryder Jack.
It still meant silver for Duffy, who won the event in 2022. He ran a 22.59 in winning that race.
Duffy accounted for all of the Lomega boys’ eight points at the state meet as they finished 24th in the team standings.
The Lomega girls were 16th with their 10 points, all on relays.
Kate Myers, Monse Rivera, Madi Myers and Paige Wheeler took fifth in the 3,200 meter relay and then eighth in the mile relay.
Ringling won the Class A boys state title with 80 points while Seiling was the girls champion with 96.
