A graveside service to honor the life of LaWanda was 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Kingfisher Cemetery.
Lawanda was born March 3, 1931, in Okeene to Alex and Sarah Winter. She graduated from Okeene High School in 1950.
She married Gordon Buckner on May 7, 1950, and from this union came their two children, Monte and Lanet.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family. She and Gordon enjoyed traveling and watching their grandchildren play sports and never missed a game.
Lawanda worked various jobs throughout her life, but primarily worked as a cosmetologist in Kingfisher. She also worked alongside her husband on the farm.
Lawanda was a member of the Kingfisher First Baptist Church where she used her gift of music to play the piano as well as singing in the choir. She also enjoyed serving within children’s ministry and helped lead the children’s choir and Vacation Bible School.
She was a member of the Omega FCE for over 50 years and was awarded the homemaker of the year.
Lawanda was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Buckner; parents, Alex and Sarah Winter; and four brothers.
She is survived by her son, Monte Buckner and wife Rita, of Kingfisher; daughter, Lanet Greenhaw and husband Larry, of Edmond; grandchildren Trey Buckner, Trevor Buckner, Andy Greenhaw, Cody Greenhaw and Lindsey (Greenhaw) Bonilla; and eight great-grandchildren.
