If the Kingfisher girls basketball team had a post-holiday tournament letdown, it wasn’t apparent.

Fresh off their consolation championship at the Mustang Holiday Classic, the Lady Jackets pummeled Chickasha 59-25 Tuesday at the APB.

KHS scored the game’s first 13 points and steadily continued to pull away from its visitors.

The win came just after Kingfisher was moved up to No. 6 in the Class 4A rankings. It improved the team to 9-2 on the season.

Chickasha entered with just one win and a threegame losing streak and was overwhelmed early.

Rayland Garner scored seven early points as King fisher got out to its quick start.

Toward the end of the quarter, Makina Frost came off the bench to nail three straight 3-pointers to give her team a 22-5 lead.

Emily Myers and Addy Matthews combined for 11 points as the advantage grew to 21 by halftime.

Garner emerged again in the third quarter with eight more points.

She finished with 19 points and seven rebounds.

She had four offensive boards and Kingfisher had 14 as a team. The Lady Jackets scored 15 second-chance points.

They also limited their visitors to 26.2 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers.

Myers finished with 10 points and Frost scored nine.

The team was off the remainder of the week while the KHS boys played in the Wheat Capital Tournament.

The Lady Jackets return to action Tuesday at Blanchard, which is ranked No. 8 in 4A.
