Warriors close to state tournament berth

Okarche is one game away from elimination.

But the Warriors are also one win shy of reaching the state baseball tournament.

The Warriors went 1-1 Thursday in their first two games of the Class A regional held at Oktaha.

Ranked ninth in Class A, Okarche knocked off No. 8 Tushka 4-3 in their opener.

That set them up against No. 1 Oktaha in the regional championship game late Thursday night.

The Tigers advance to state with a 7-4 victory.

However, Okarche got another crack Friday (after press time).

The Warriors awaited the winner of Tushka and Hydro-Eakly. The winner of that final game will claim the regional consolation championship and also advance to the state tournament, which starts Thursday.

The Warriors entered the final day of the regional with a 24-4 record.
