Eleven different players scored as Okarche traveled north to Tonkawa Tuesday and came back home with a 62-29 victory.

The Lady Warriors dominated the second and fourth quarters, outscoring the Lady Bucs 40-11 in those two quarters while improving to 7-5.

Senior Scout Payne, playing with a torn ACL suffered earlier this season, sparked the second-quarter spurt with five points.

Okarche led 13-9 entering the quarter, but Payne hit one of three Okarche treys in the quarter as part of a 20-5 spurt.

Tonkawa kept its deficit at 19 points entering the fourth, but the Lady Warriors closed strong as seven different Lady Warriors had at least one field goal in the final frame.

Kati Parham led the balanced scoring with 11 points.

Callie Cramer added nine while Payne and Kylie Harper scored seven points apiece.

West gets point across in win

Aaron West found a coachable moment, even in a 39-point win.

That came Tuesday night during the Okarche Warriors’ 88-49 victory at Tonkawa.

After its typical early explosion, Okarche led 5113 with about 5 minutes left in the first half when he pulled his starters.

“We stopped playing defense,” said West. “Even though we were scoring, you’ve still got to play defense.”

After giving up 19 points in the second quarter, Okarche surrendered just 19 in the entire second half while improving to 12-0.

Okarche led 36-11 after a quarter and got off nearly as many field goal attempts in the first half (44) as did Tonkawa the entire game (45).

Overall, Okarche was 40 of 80 from the field.

Jett Mueggenborg didn’t make a 3-pointer in his six attempts, but was 13 of 15 inside the arc in scoring his game-high 27 points.

Hunter Mueggenborg added 18 points while Easton Roby scored 16.

Despite “not playing defense,” Okarche did force 33 turnovers and scored 41 points off of them.
