Perkins tops field at KHS tournament
Hall’s Gross wins individual title; Snider 11th, Lady Jackets shoot sub-400

Raegan Snider said she knew she left some strokes on the course.
“It’s like a magnet,” she said of the out-of-bounds markers to the left of holes 11 and 14.
The Kingfisher High School senior went “OB” a total of three times on those two holes, yet still managed to shoot an 82 Wednesday during the Kingfisher High School Large School Girls Invitational.
Snider’s round placed her 11th out of 92 individuals, but she was just three strokes from a top five finish and four out of the top three.
Snider led Kingfisher to an 11th place finish out of 18 teams in the field.
The Lady Jackets shot a 398.
Layla Kroener and Addison Johnson shot 105s while Ryan Scammahorn fired a 106.
A sophomore, Kroener is playing her first season of golf while Johnson and Scammahorn are both freshmen.
“If you had told me this group was going to shoot under 400 in their second tournament, I might not have believed you,” coach Doug Jech said.
“Each of those girls has some real potential and they showed signs of it today.”
The tournament uses the Maxwell format, instead of the traditional format of counting the four best scores on a five-person team.
In Maxwell, the four best scores are used on each hole, giving the team a score for that hole and then counting up the scores for all 18 holes.
Perkins-Tryon took home the team trophy with a 319 using that format.
Clinton was the runner- up at 325 and Bethany took third with a 328.
Heritage Hall’s Gabriella Gross was the runaway individual champ.
She carded an even-par 72 to claim medalist honors by four strokes.
Gross’ round started with a bogey on No. 6 and ended with a bogey on No. 5.
In between, she had just one more bogey, three birdies and 12 pars.
Perkins-Tryon’s Kennedy Parker was second with her 76 while Clinton’s Addyson Littke shot a 78 for third place.
Josey Inselman of Perkins- Tryon and Drew Jacobson and Addi Hoefar of Bethany all shot 79.
Inselman and Jacobson won scorecard playoffs for fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Hennessey finished at 428.
Jentry Pribyl led her team with a 103 while Jenna Hladik fired a 106.
Also scoring were Kallie Rapp with a 107, Leilie Vadder with a 122 and Marisol Valles with a 125.
