No. 4 Tuttle handles KHS girls
Landry Allen didn’t disappoint and that spelled trouble for Kingfisher.
Tuttle’s highly-sought-after post player recorded a triple-double for the second year in a row against KHS, this time on her home court as the Lady Tigers dominated a top-eight matchup, 52-27.
After winning nine straight, Kingfisher dropped its second straight decision in falling to 9-2.
Allen had 12 points and 12 rebounds, but like last year, it was her ability to block and alter shots that proved to be Kingfisher’s biggest downfall.
The 6-foot-3 sophomore swatted 10 Kingfisher shots as the Lady Jackets converted on just 31 percent of their field goals and were held to their lowest scoring total of the season.
With Allen patrolling the middle, Kingfisher’s need to convert from the perimeter never came to fruition.
The Lady Jackets were 3 of 13 (23.1 percent) from 3-point range.
Tuttle led 13-4 after a quarter and steadily pulled away.
The Class 4A’s fourthranked Lady Tigers’ lead was 16 points at halftime.
Kingfisher, ranked eighth in 4A, got nine points from Allison Green.
Mya Dewberry scored six and had a team-high six rebounds.
Allen is perhaps the most heavily-recruited Oklahoma player in the Class of 2023.
She already has offers from OU, OSU, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Tulsa, TCU and Kansas among others.
She’s also had conversations with North Carolina, Baylor and Arizona State, according to her high school coach, Brian Lester.
Tuttle was 9-1 after the win. Its only loss is to No. 1 Anadarko.
