Hennessey, Watonga split TRC games
A third-quarter surge Tuesday helped Hennessey stave off upset-minded Watonga.
The Eagles overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to pull off a 47-41 Three Rivers Conference home win.
Watonga held its host to three second-quarter points and led 23-15.
But Hennessey went on a 19-6 run in the third quarter and kept the lead the rest of the night.
Cristian Rodriguez scored seven points during the third-quarter surge and Wade Vinson got all five of his points during that stretch.
Rodriguez ended his night with 12 points.
Jael Torres scored a team-high 14. Eleven of those came in the second half as Hennessey ran its record to 7-1.
Watonga girls win
Watonga’s girls began with a torrid scoring pace and Hennessey never caught up in a 54-31 loss.
The visiting Lady Eagles got out to 23-11 lead after one quarter.
Hennessey got 11 points from Gracie Mills. Yudi Rios and Noelle Pollard scored five apiece.
Hennessey was 3-5 after the loss.
