Longhorns push win streak to 12 games
Make that 12 straight wins for the Dover boys basketball team.
The Longhorns put on another defensive clinic Tuesday in a 47-15 road win at Medford.
The point total was the lowest of the season for the Cardinals. Their second-lowest was 20 points…also against Dover when the two teams met in the semifinals of a tournament in December.
Medford had just five points and one field goal at halftime and didn’t score more than seven points in any quarter.
Up 8-1 after one frame, Dover grabbed hold of the game with a 17-4 run in the second.
Casen Buck scored seven of his game-high 14 points in that quarter.
Dover also got 13 points from Lucas Conrady and 10 from Jonah Pendergraft.
After losing their first game of the season, the Longhorns are now 12-1 and have moved up to No. 9 in the Class B rankings.
Dover is surrendering an average of just 27.8 points a game through those 13 contests.
Medford gets 2nd win over Lady Longhorns
There are four Kilians on the Medford girls basketball team.
That was at least one too many for the Dover girls.
The Kilians combined for 45 points Tuesday as Medford beat Dover for the second time this season, 56--52, at home.
The previous victory was also a four-point margin in the semifinals of the Mustang Stampede in December.
Kaydence Kilian scored 11 points in the third quarter as Medford turned a four-point deficit into a sixpoint lead.
She ended the night with 25 points.
Dover got the lead with a big second quarter.
Down 20-14 after the first, the Lady Longhorns got 12 points from Rylee Buck in the second quarter.
Dover outscored Medford 18-8 in the frame.
Medford came back with its own 20-10 run.
Buck ended her night with 19 points.
Dover also got 12 from Joi Caldwell and 10 from Ashley Gamez.
Jayden Kilian added 10 for Medford, which moved to 9-1.
Dover dropped to 7-6.
