Lomega settles for split at Carnegie
There was no apparent rust in Lomega’s first outing in 19 days.
The Lady Raiders scored 58 points in the first half Tuesday to hand Carnegie a 79-45 defeat on its home court.
It was Lomega’s first game since beating Burlington on Nov. 19.
But the Lady Raiders were sharp as they outscored Carnegie 30-12 in the first quarter.
Darcy Roberts and Abby Swart scored nine points apiece in the frame.
They added to their totals in the second quarter. By halftime, eight different Lomega players had scored as it boasted a 32-point advantage.
Swart ended her night with18 points, which included four 3-pointers.
Roberts scored 15 and Sydni Walker 12.
Walker had 10 of her points by halftime.
Shelby Russell contributed 11 points as Lomega improved to 5-1 with its third straight win.
Carnegie boys on fire against Raiders
Blaze Cummings torched the nets and the rest of the Carnegie Wildcats were red hot as well.
That spelled doom for Lomega.
Carnegie built an early lead on Lomega and never let up in an 89-49 win at home Tuesday.
Cummings scored 25 points, including 10 in a second-quarter run that saw the Wildcats go on a 29-9 run.
That turned what was already a 13-point lead into 33 points by halftime.
Brooks Uhlenhake scored eight in the third quarter as Lomega tried to make a run, but Carnegie still managed to pad its lead.
Uhlenhake led Lomega with 14 points.
Blake Snowden scored nine.
The loss dropped the Raiders to 3-3 on the season.
