Lomega has no issue with weather, Medford
While much of the state postponed basketball games on Tuesday night, Lomega and Medford opted to keep theirs scheduled.
The teams just tipped off 90 minutes early and Lomega was able to come back home with a pair of blowout wins.
Raiders pull away in second half
Ben Marsh had the hot hand early while Chase Burton picked up steam in the second as Lomega’s boys won 64-38.
The Cardinals were able to keep it competitive much of the first half, though Lomega still led 30-21.
Marsh was the catalyst as he scored 11 of Lomega’s 18 points in the first quarter. He had 17 by halftime.
The Raiders took command in the third quarter with an 18-6 run.
Lance Yost and Burton both scored six points during the burst.
Burton’s points were off two 3-pointers. He added two more in the fourth and scored all 12 of his points in the second half.
Yost also scored 12 in the game.
Marsh, who added a 3-pointer in the third quarter run, led all scorers with 20 points.
Ranked 20th in Class B, Lomega was 15-5 after the win.
Swart scores 20 in Lady Raider victory
Medford was completely overmatched and subsequently overwhelmed as second-ranked Lomega cruised to the 75-13 victory.
The home team found itself down 20-5 after a quarter and that proved to be its best offensive stretch of the game The Lady Raiders followed that up with a 28-2 run in the second.
Fresh off her MVP performance at the conference tournament, Abby Swart led all scorers with 20 points.
The junior had 18 by halftime.
Monse Rivera added 11 points while Sydni Walker scored 10.
Twelve different Lady Raiders scored as Lomega improved to 19-1.
