Ruth Ann Garrett
Ruth Ann Garrett (Foster), 94, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2023.
She was born in Okarche on May 21, 1928, and married Eugene Garrett on Nov. 3, 1946.
Ruth Ann kept busy. She was a full-time homemaker, helped with the family dairy and farm, was employed at the Kingfisher County Courthouse and coowned “The Fabric Shop” on Main Street in Kingfisher in the early 1980s.
Ruth Ann had a green thumb and spent many hours in her backyard tending to her flowerbeds, vegetable garden, strawberry patch and greenhouse.
Her house was always filled with thriving plants and cut flowers.
She was also an outstanding cook, often using vegetables from her garden and beef raised on the family farm.
For many years she made cinnamon rolls every Sunday morning, allowing the family to get together before and after church.
She was somewhat famous for her chicken and noodles, a staple on every holiday.
She had a beautiful voice and often sang with her five siblings at numerous events. She was also in the First Christian Church Choir for many years and anytime she was working, she was also humming her favorite songs.
Ruth Ann is survived by her children Tom Garrett and wife Irene, Jack Garrett and wife Acela and Jeannie Cross and husband Tom; grandchildren Greg and Sara Garrett, Nathan and Tonya Garrett, Lori and Ryan Burns, Jonathan Garrett, Erin and Art Managbanag and Michelle Furtado great-grandchildren Emily, Gretchen, and Natalie Garrett Jacob and Allison Garrett, Peyton, Braden and Colton Burns, Jude and Miles Managbanag and Adelaide Furtado.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, brothers Andy and John (Bud) Foster, and sisters Helen Grabel, Kate Francis and Minnie Mae Van Horn.
Services were Friday, Jan. 27, at the First Christian Church in Kingfisher under the direction of Huber- Benson Funeral Home.
