Lomega grabs pair of conference victories against Broncs, Chiefs
The Lomega Raiders bounced back from their loss in the Canton Invitational with two convincing wins last week.
The fi rst was an 82-46 thumping at home over Kremlin-Hillsdale on Tuesday. Lomega followed it up Friday with a 71-37 victory at Cherokee.
Eleven players scored against the Broncs as Lomega used a 42-14 run over the middle two quarters to pull away.
Blake Snowden scored 14 of his game-high 17 points during that stretch, including four of his five 3-pointers.
Owen Duffy added 13 points while Kelby Ott chipped in nine - all on 3-pointers.
The Raiders made 15 treys as a team.
Snowden had the hot hand at Cherokee as well as he came away with 20 points.
And, once again, the second and third quarters played a huge role.
The Raiders were up a point after the first, then went on a 16-5 run in the second.
They added to it with a 24-8 burst in the third.
Duffy contributed 13 points while Trevor Lentz added 10.
The Raiders are now 9-4 on the season.
Roberts, Swart lead Lady Raiders to lopsided wins
Darcy Roberts and Abby Swart combined to score 30 points in the first quarter.
Cherokee scored 20 the entire game.
Lomega will enter the holiday break on an eightgame win streak after its 76-20 victory at Cherokee last Friday.
Roberts and Swart were lights out in that first quarter as Lomega put away the game early.
Roberts nailed five 3-pointers and netted 19 points.
Swart added three more treys and scored 11 as Lomega led 32-4.
The Lady Raiders just continued to pull away.
Roberts totaled 23 points on the night.
Swart scored 13. Lomega also got 11 points from Monse Rivera as she knocked down three 3-pointers.
Lomega made 14 treys total.
Sydni Walker contributed eight points.
Last Tuesday’s 58-30 home win over Kremlin-Hillsdale told a similar tale.
Roberts and Swart scored nine apiece in the first as Lomega built up a 29-6 advantage.
Roberts led all scorers with 20 while Swart added 16.
Walker, who contributed six points in the first quarter, ended her night with eight.
Lomega, ranked No. 1 in Class B, is now 10-1 on the season.
