Lady Jackets trounce Clinton behind early 3’s
Clinton dared Kingfi sher to shoot…so Kingfisher shot.
The Lady Jackets put an end to a two-game losing skid last Friday night with a 50-29 victory at the Tornado Dome.
Clinton packed into a zone early and the Lady Jackets responded with four of their nine made 3-pointers in the fi rst quarter.
That helped KHS get out to a 14-9 lead, one it would continue to build upon the entire game.
Two of the made treys came from Kina Frost. Allison Green and Melody Wilfong also knocked down a 3-pointer apiece.
In fact, not until Britt Taylor’s 16-foot jumper with 25 seconds left in the first quarter did the Lady Jackets score on anything other than a 3-pointer.
That opened things up a bit inside and Jenni Beebe took advantage.
The senior scored seven of her nine points in the second quarter as KHS went up 28-14.
Taylor and Green also made treys in the frame before Green added two more in the third.
She eventually led the team with 12 points.
Frost, who chipped in another 3-pointer in the fourth, joined Beebe in scoring nine. Beebe led the team with seven rebounds.
Taylor added seven to go along with a team-high four assists. She also had fi ve rebounds.
Kingfisher shot just 37 percent from the fi eld, but held Clinton to 24 percent. The Lady Reds went 5 of 23 (22 percent) from 3-point range.
KHS also scored 19 points off 17 Clinton turnovers. The Lady Jackets allowed just five points off their own miscues.
Kingfisher moved to 8-4 with the victory.
