Hennessey, OBA split games
Only four Hennessey players scored last Friday in the Eagles’ Three Rivers Conference contest at Oklahoma Bible Academy in Enid.
In this case, four was enough.
Hennessey overcame an early deficit to down OBA 66-56 to remain undefeated in the conference regular season.
Senior guard Angel Rodriguez had the hottest hand as he drained 30 points, including five 3-pointers.
He scored 10 points in the second quarter when Hennessey used a 19-7 run to overcome a five-point deficit and take the lead for good.
Juan Dominguez scored seven in that quarter and had 13 of his 17 points in the fi rst half.
Rodriguez added three more treys and 11 points in the third as Hennessey’s lead swelled to 11 points.
The Eagles also got 10 points from Brysn Hunt, eight of which were in the second half. Wade Vinson added nine points.
Hennessey is now 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Lady Eagles struggle late
Hennessey couldn’t maintain its fi rst-half momentum and eventually dropped a 53-47 decision at OBA in the girls contest.
The Lady Eagles led by 10 points at halftime, but watched it slip away with OBA’s 21-8 spurt in the third quarter.
Hennessey was led by Juliana Macy’s 20 points. Kassidy Amburn added 10.
The Lady Eagles are now 5-8 on the season, including 0-4 in conference games.
