L - O now 10 in a row
Lady Raiders win yet another conference crown; Lomega boys held off by DCLA
It’s safe to say Lomega all but owns the Cherokee Strip Conference Tournament championship.
The Lady Raiders made it 10 in a row Saturday night when they downed Class B’s 17th-ranked Medford 62-44 in the championship game at Pioneer-Pleasant Vale High School.
The Lady Cardinals had absolutely no answer for Reagan Snowden as the Lomega freshman torched them for 31 points.
Part of that was 19 points in the first half as Lomega got out to a 13-point lead.
It was extended to 22 points by the end of the third quarter as Snowden scored seven more and Paige Wheeler knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Wheeler finished her night with 14 points.
Aliana Lawson and Kate Myers both scored seven points for Lomega, which improved to 18-1.
The top-ranked team in Class B downed Cherokee 80-50 in Friday’s semifinal.
Snowden led a group of four Lady Raiders in double figures as she poured in 17 points.
Wheeler made three 3-pointers and scored 15 points.
Jackie Penaran and Hadley Ott each knocked down four treys and scored 12 apiece.
Lomega made 12 3-pointers as a team.
The Lady Raiders ended the tournament with a 13-game win streak overall.
DCLA outlasts Raiders for title
Only one team has beaten the Lomega boys since the calendar turned to 2025.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, it’s happened twice.
Deer Creek-Lamont downed Lomega 73-62 Saturday in the title game of the Cherokee Strip Conference Tournament at Pioneer- Pleasant Vale High School.
Lomega is 6-2 this month. DCLA handed the Raiders their other loss on Jan. 17.
The Raiders led 33-30 at the break, but the Eagles turned the tide beginning in the second quarter.
Braden Bledsoe made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points as his team caught and passed Lomega.
The Eagles didn’t go far. Lance Yost scored eight and Jaxson Snowden and Ben Marsh combined for seven more points in the third, but Lomega still trailed 51-48.
The Eagles didn’t let the Raiders catch up.
They made a trio of 3-pointers and went 9 of 10 from the foul line to claim the conference crown.
Brice Bledsoe was 5 of 6 on free throws, scored eight in the quarter and led all scorers with 24 on the night.
He was one of four Eagles in double figures.
Lomega got three there…and nearly a fourth.
Snowden paced the Raiders with 21.
Yost scored 18 and Marsh 14 while Chase Burton added nine.
Burton joined Yost in making three 3-pointers while Marsh buried four of them.
The Raiders outscored Kremlin- Hillsdale 15-2 in the fourth quarter Friday to pull away for a 55-39 victory in the semifinals.
Snowden scored eight of his game-high 22 points in that decisive frame.
