Kingfisher hosts Chisholm in 1st tennis duel of season
Kingfisher’s boys swept their opponents Tuesday in the 2021 tennis season opener.
KHS won all four boys matches while Chisholm won six of the seven girls matches in a duel at Shaw Park.
Maverick Ridenour and Nathan Smalley took care of singles wins for the Jackets.
Ridenour thumped Trevor Harms 8-1 in No. 1 singles and then Smalley beat Michael Marr 8-6.
In No. 1 doubles, Logan Castonguay and Easton Pine defeated Harms and Marr 8-6.
Xavier Ridenour and Caden Kitchens followed that up with an 8-2 win over Harms and Marr.
Sydney Watkins and Mia Farrell joined forces to give the KHS girls their win.
The No. 1 doubles duo defeated Chisholm’s team of Lewis and Leal 6-4, 6-0.
Lewis and Leal knocked off Farrell and Taylor Mills 8-0 in the other doubles match.
Chisholm’s Ashley Machia and Watkins battled it out in a close No. 1 singles match.
In the end, Machia pulled out a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Also competing in singles matches for KHS were Frida Gonzalez, Hope Stafford and Gentry Taylor.
