Burnham top individual at John Marshall tourney
Tristun Burnham has his first official win of his high school career.
The Kingfisher High School sophomore on Thursday shot a 1-overpar 71 at Cedar Valley Golf Club’s International course.
The medalist performance came in the 11th annual John Marshall Golf Tournament.
“His tempo on his swing was great,” coach Chris Combs said of Burnham. “He was solid all day.”
Blake Hill shot a 79 totie for seventh while Jax Sternberger fired a 96.
Dominic Stevens has another medalist honor to add to his list.
The Crescent golfer topped a field of 75 others Tuesday to win the Hennessey Turkey Creek Golf Tournament.
Stevens fired a 1-overpar 71 to beat a pair of Community Christian golfers by five strokes.
Cash Clark and Luke D’amico each shot 76 to help lead Community Christian to the team title with a 322.
Perry was second at 334 and Crescent third at 340.
Cashion followed Crescent with a 352.
Kingfisher’s Burnham was among those in contention for the individual championship .
His 79 tied him for fourth, but Burnham lost a scorecard playoff and took fifth.
Hill shot an 82 to finish tied for 80th.
Sternberger’s 95 placed him 30th overall.
Among those tied with Hill were Cashion’s Jake Wilkerson and Hennessey’s Christian Tovar.
Other scores for Crescent included: Jackson Watkins 84, Cade Watkins 88, Carter Johnson 97 and Ethan Ryans 99.
For Cashion: Max Brown 89, Ashton Moore 90, Mark Parrott 91 and Holten Aaron 92.
Hennessey’s Caleb Ashlock shot a 121 and Ed Dominguez a 123.
