KHS girls claim cross country meet at home once again

A new location didn’t mean a different result in the Kingfisher Invitational Cross Country Meet.

The Kingfisher High School girls once again claimed the team title of their home meet, edging runner-up Hennessey by six points.

The races were run on the KHS campus, the original site of the meet several years ago, as opposed to Briscoe Park.

Both KHS and Hennessey had four of their five scoring runners medal.

The Lady Jackets were led by Scout Snodgrass, who finished fourth overall and third among scoring runners.

She ran the two-mile course in 13:07.11.

Snodgrass was sandwiched by a pair of Lady Eagles.

Emma Copeland was third overall and second among scorers in 13:04.88. Jocelyn Matousek took fifth (fourth) in 13:15.35.

Not far back from her were Kingfisher’s Lily Lunsford and Harper Evans, who were seventh and eighth, respectively, overall.

Lunsford crossed in 13:44.97 and Evans in 13:53.79.

They were sixth and seventh among the scorers. Terry Ann McCully was 12th (ninth) in 14:18.44 while Chloe Richardson rounded out Kingfisher’s scoring by placing 34th (25th) in 15:56.14.

KHS notched 50 total points.

Tayler Franklin and Star Torres also medaled for Hennessey.

Franklin placed 17th (13th) in 14:38.89 while Torres was 23rd (17th) in 15:03.87.

JoHanna Matousek placed 27th (20th) in 15:25.06.

Hennessey scored 56 points. Okeene was third in the meet with 79 points and Burlington fourth with 83. There were eight full teams and 60 individual runners.

Cordell’s Calliy Walker won the meet with a time of 12:07.10.

••• There were only two full teams for the boys, who also ran two miles.

However, all three of the KHS boys did earn medals and two placed in the top 10.Wyatt Long was third overall with a time of 11:34.41.

Freshman Chance Dunn crossed in seventh place in 12:04.76 while Conner Askey was 21st in 13:30.30. Both Hennessey runners medaled as Asher Ward was 11th in 12:22.83 and Seth Sims 12th in 12:26.01.

Okeene’s Diego Lopez won the meet with a time of 10:49.05.

••• Kingfisher girls won the junior high meet with 64 points, edging Cashion’s 67.Hinsley Brodrick was eighth overall and sixth among the scorers to lead the team.

Ryan Farrar also placed in the top 10 as she was ninth (seventh).

Kellyn Young (11th), Ximena Ponce (14th) and Brailyn Schroeder (26th) rounded out the KMS scoring.

Hattie Wood paced Cashion as she was second overall and first among team scorers.

Lyla Sloan (second), Zoie Cox (fifth), Ashlynn Graham (16th) and Molly Graham (43rd) rounded out the scoring.

Hennessey was fifth in junior high girls, led by Julianne Matousek, who was fifth overall and third among scorers.

In junior high boys, Kingfisher was sixth in the team standings.

The Jackets were led by Channing Dunn, who was eighth overall and fourth among the scorers.

Hennessey’s Rogan Choate placed fifth.
