Jackets dunk Chicks
At one point late in the third quarter of Kingfisher’s home win against Chickasha last Tuesday, the Yellowjackets had more points via the dunk than their guests had total.
Although the trend didn’t hold, Kingfisher’s massive lead did in a 68-24 victory at the APB.
Matthew Stone and Bijan Cortes combined for seven dunks before the two sat for good in the third quarter.
Six of them came from Cortes as they ranged from the routine to the spectacular.
All were uncontested as Kingfisher forced 22 turnovers and had 35 transition points.
The Jackets had 14 points on the board before Chickasha even managed a bucket.
The Jackets were up 36-5 at halftime and didn’t allow Chickasha to crack double digits until time was winding down in the third quarter.
The Jackets scored 58 points in the paint with Stone doing his share of the damage.
The junior forward was 12 of 13 from inside the arc and led the team with 27 points and 12 rebounds.
His finger roll layup in the third gave KHS a 51-11 lead and prompted the end of his night.
Cortes scored 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.
Jarret Bridwell added eight points and six rebounds.
The Jackets scored 30 points off Chickasha turnovers and limited the winless Chicks to 18.8 percent shooting.

The win upped Kingfi sher’s mark to 4-0.
