Garner garners KCAC basketball honors

A former Kingfisher High School standout is also excelling at the collegiate level.

Friends University’s Rayland Garner was recently named to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference first team for her play on the basketball court this season.

Garner is averaging 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field.

Friends is currently 23-6 on the season and is 19-3 in KCAC play.

A sophomore, Garner graduated fron KHS in 2022.

During her senior sesaon, she averaged 14.1 points and 6.6 rebounds a game, leading the team in both.

She helped guide KHS to its first state tournament since 2009.

Garner was named Western Conference all-conference and earned multiple all-tournament team honors during her senior year.
