Cashion girls knock out Oktaha, 70-45
Cashion moved within two wins of a trip to the state tournament.
The Lady Wildcats got there Thursday with a 70-45 thumping of No. 5 Oktaha in a Class 2A area consolation quarterfinal.
Coach Andrea Taylor called it “a big-time team effort.”
Three Cashion players reached double figures while a fourth just missed it.
A bulk of the damage was done in the first two quarters as Cashion’s offense put up 45 points and built a 17-point lead.
It put the game away with a 14-4 run in the third quarter.
Reese Wiliams scored a game-high 15 points.
Cashion also got 14 points from Megan Shafer and 12 from Madison Westerhoff.
Lauren Jenkins scored nine as Cashion improved to 20-7.
The Lady Wildcats took on No. 14 Hartshorne in Friday afternoon’s consolation semifinal (after press time).
Hartshorne knocked off Hooker 59-57 Thursday evening.
The winner of that will play the loser of Friday night’s area championship game between KIPP Tulsa and Merritt.
