Dover squads get blowout wins over Gracemont, Pioneer
The second half didn’t provide a lot of offense for either team Monday night in Dover.
Fortunately for the Longhorns, they did enough in the first half.
Dover won its fifth straight game as it downed Pioneer-Pleasant Vale 4124 at home.
Much of the work was done early as Dover led 34-16 at halftime before the teams combined for just 15 second-half points.
The Longhorns pulled away with their 21-7 run in the second quarter.
Nathan Cohee knocked down three of his five 3-pointers during that stretch.
He led all scorers with 17 points.
Casen Buck added 10 for the Longhorns and Lucas Conrady scored eight.
A somber crowd watched last Thursday night as Dover got its 15th win of the season by downing Gracemont 76-23 on the road.
Just hours before the game, a Gracemont senior’s father was killed in a traffic accident, leaving the team without some of its players.
Buck had a massive first half as he scored all 23 of his points.
The hosts had one good quarter as Devon Edge scored 11 of Gracemont’s 15 points in the second quarter.
However, Dover countered with 34 of which 14 came from Buck.
Cohee added eight in the quarter and scored all 15 of his points in the first half.
Conrady chipped in 13 more points.
The Longhorns entered Tuesday night’s regular- season finale against Canton with a 16-8 record.

Class B’s top-ranked team put together a pair of dominant performances as its regular season draws to a close.
Dover downed Pioneer- Pleasant Vale 73-26 at home on Monday night.
The team made 13 3-pointers in the game, nine of which came from the Harviston twins.
Six of Dover’s treys came in the first quarter as it got out to a 26-8 lead.
Katelyn Harviston made three of them and Karlee Harviston two more while Rylee Buck added another.
Dover extended its lead to 44-16 by halftime.
Karlee Harviston ended her night with 27 points while Katelyn scored 22.
Buck, who made three treys, added 11 points.
The Lady Longhorns did much of their damage early in last Thursday’s 55-23 win at Gracemont.
Dover did all of its scoring through three quarters and led by as many as 44 points.
Karlee Harviston made five 3-pointers on the night for her 23 points.
Katelyn Harviston added 14 points while Buck scored 12.
Dover made eight 3-pointers as a team.
The Lady Longhorns were 23-1 entering their final regular-season game Tuesday night (after press time) against Class A’s No. 20 Canton.
