Cashion sweeps TRC MVP awards
Neeley Tilley-Bedick, Vance Raney named conference’s top players by coaches
Vance Raney has officially made the Three Rivers Conference Most Valuable Player award a family tradition.
The Cashion High School junior was named the 2020-21 winner of the honor last week after a vote of conference coaches.
In fact, it was a CHS sweep as Neeley Tilley-Bedick was named the girls MVP.
Raney became the second person in his family to win the award.
His older brother Vaughn Raney was the 2015-16 winner during his senior season with the Wildcats.
The elder Raney spent four years at Rogers State University and just wrapped up his playing career at Oklahoma City University.
Vance Raney helped lead Cashion back to the state tournament for the second straight year.
He averaged 15.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 steals a game.
Raney shot 41 percent (83 of 201) from 3-point range.
“And there’s really not a stat for it, but he’s one heck of a defender,” coach John Hardaway said. “He almost always guards the other team’s best player.”
The Wildcats advanced to the Class 2A quarterfinals before being eliminated by Howe.
Cashion was 21-4 overall and went 4-0 in conference regular season games.
The Wildcats also won the conference tournament for the third straight year.
Tilley-Bedick guided Cashion to a 17-8 mark and a spot in the 2A area tournament.
The Lady Wildcats went 5-0 in conference games and took third place in the conference tournament in January.
Tilley-Bedick averaged 11.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals.
She was joined on the all-conference team by teammates Brook Shelly and Lauren Lamb.
Also earning all-conference were Madison Owens and Emma Stover of Okarche; and Gracie Mills and Kassidy Amburn of Hennessey.
Joining Raney on the all-conference team is teammate - and cousin - Jonah Jenkins and Austin Frazier; Jael Torres, Juan Dominguez and Wade Vinson of Hennessey; and Logan Kroener and Evan Endres of Okarche.
