Cashion boys 2nd in 2A golf qualifier
Wildcats advance to regional, as do individuals from Hennessey, Crescent
Cashion’s boys golf team advanced to next week’s regional with a runner-up finish Monday at the Class 2A qualifier at Kingfisher Golf Course.
Meanwhile, Hennessey and Crescent also had individual golfers advance, but missed out on reaching the regional as full squads.
Cashion shot a 339 to finish six strokes behind Arapaho-Butler.
The top six teams (and ties) advance from the qualifier to the regional.
Cashion and Arapaho-Butler were joined by Tipton (340), Velma-Alma (342), Davis (374) and Oklahoma Christian Academy (376).
Hennessey just missed out on advancing as it placed seventh with a 378.
Crescent shot a 403 while Okarche fired a 453.
Last year’s state runner-up, Cashion was led by Camden Maroney’s 82.
The Wildcats also got an 84 from Max Brown, and 85 from Holten Aaron, an 88 from Ashton Moore and a 10 from Grayson Stewart.
They’ll play in the regional Monday at Falconhead Golf Course in Burneyville.
Joining them will be Manuel Olivas of Hennessey and Carter Johnson of Crescent.

That group included Walters’ Carter Ray, who had the best round of the day with a 1-under-par 69.
Other individual golfers advancing were Trace Thomason (78) of Indiahoma, Reydon Register (90) of Sterling, Anthony Cumpton (90) of Wilson and Bryson Longhot (90) of Carnegie.
For Hennessey, Kevin Trillo added a 91, Joe Davis a 99, Caleb Ashlock a 100 and Alan Perez a 126.
Crescent’s Ethan Ryans shot a 97, Gabe South a 102, Drew Howell a 116 and Hudson Replogle a 123.
Okarche was led by Hunter Mueggenborg’s 102. The Warriors also had Caden Schieber a 112, Alex Hawk a 118, Colin Kroener a 121 and Quinn Schneiter a 126.
