BASEBALL UPDATE – Kingfi sher dropped both of its games last week in the I-40 Classic Baseball Festival. They were defeated 12-4 Thursday against Clinton on the Red Tornadoes’ home fi eld. On Friday, the Jackets trekked to Weatherford to take on Jones. The Jackets took an early 1-0 lead on Carter Stephenson’s RBI base hit in the fi rst inning and were up 2-1 entering the bottom of the fi fth. That’s when the Longhorns pounced for four runs and made them hold up for a 5-3 victory. Kingfi sher lost despite out-hitting the Longhorns 10-6. Kaden Cline, pictured catching a fl y ball at second base during the bottom of the fi rst inning, delivered three hits and scored a run. Stephenson fi nished 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs while Cooper Henley also had two hits. Christian Farrell was solid on the mound as he went 4 1/3 innings. He gave up four hits and four earned runs before turning it over to Trypp Lack. Lack pitched the fi nal 1 2/3 innings, surrendered two hits, an unearned run and struck out three. Lack was back on the mound Monday as KHS hosted Woodward in a District 4A-4 contest. Lack had a supreme outing and the Jackets put together perhaps their best defensive performance of the season. However, the offense couldn’t muster a run as KHS dropped a 1-0 decision to the Boomers. Lack pitched all seven innings, gave up four hits and struck out six without walking a batter. Henley had two of Kingfi sher’s four hits in the contest. The Jackets were 1-11 overall and 0-5 in district games entering Tuesday night’s return trip to Woodward after press time of this edition.
