Balanced freshmen pull away
A balanced attack and some sharp outside shooting gave Kingfi sher’s freshman boys basketball team a solid win in its season opener.
The Jackets erased an early seven-point defi cit to dominate the middle two quarters and cruise last Monday to a 59-43 victory over Blanchard at the APB.
After falling behind 17-10, Kingfisher outscored the Lions 36-13 in the second and third quarters.
Six different Jackets scored during that stretch, including 10 points from Judd Birdwell.
Birdwell did a lot of his damage from the inside, but a host of Jackets did their own from beyond the arc.
Kingfisher made 10 3-pointers in the game.
Three of those came from Maddox Mecklenburg, who led the team with 12 points.
Drake Friesen knocked down two of them and finished with 11. Birdwell also finished his night with 11 points.
Jax Sternberger and Cash Slezickey made two treys apiece as part of their seven points.
XavierRidenourknocked down the other trey and also scored seven.
