Rose Ann Schovanec

Recitation of the Rosary for Rose Ann Schovanec, 84, was Friday June 21, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bison. Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church officiated by Rev. Edward Menasco.

Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in Hennessey under the direction of Cordry- Gritz Funeral Home.

Rose Ann was born east of Hennessey on Aug. 7, 1939, to Bohomill and Fannie Harak Shimanek and died at her home east of Hennessey Monday, June 17, 2024.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Rose Ann graduated from Hennessey High School in 1957.

She married Virgil Schovanec in Bison on Sept. 3, 1960. She worked at Hennessey Public Schools as a cook for many years.

Rose Ann is survived by three sons, Kenneth Schovanec of Hennessey, Douglas Schovanec of Oklahoma City and Virgil “Sonny” Schovanec of Enid; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Bernie Shimanek, Jim Shimanek and Danny Shimanek.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters Alice Jones and Betty Hudson; and brothers Steve Shimanek, Ernie Shimanek and Richard Shimanek.
