Ella “Frances” (Czaplinski) Scott, 95, of Kingfisher, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 9, 2024.

Frances was born April 2, 1929, in Caldwell, Kan., to Harvey and Minnie Czaplinski.

She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1948.

She was baptized at age 14 at the First Christian Church in Caldwell. Her church community was an important part of her life.

She used her gift of music to play the piano for the First Christian Church in Okeene for 14 years.

Frances attended both the 50th and 100th year celebration of the Okeene church.

Upon moving to Kingfisher, Frances and her husband, Gerald, became members of the First Christian Church of Kingfisher.

Frances married Gerald Dale Scott on Dec. 16, 1953, enjoying 55 years of marriage until Gerald’s passing in 2008.

Together they enjoyed raising a family, church activities, family dinners and attending family reunions. They also enjoyed card games with family and friends and camping.

Frances’ many talents and hobbies included: violinist, pianist, seamstress, quilting, crocheting and embroidery work.

Many family members and friends have been blessed with gifting of her beautiful quilts and crochet pieces.

Frances was known as the family photographer; she always carried three disposable cameras and everyone knew when granny pulled out the camera, it was time to line up for a picture.

Her greatest joy and pride was her family.

Frances and Gerald would spend many miles on the road attending some of her grandchildren’s sporting activities. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world. She and Gerald attended graduations, sporting events and many family gatherings.

Frances lived independently until January 2024 when her failing health, loss of eyesight and hearing difficulties resulted in a move to Homestead Assisted Living and Memory Care of Kingfisher where she formed many friendships with neighbors there.

Her lifelong friend, Bonnie Armstrong, remained her faithful friend and avid supporter until her passing, often visiting, bringing her cookies and baked goods and brightening her days.

Frances is survived by her daughter Fran Goreham and husband James of Arlington, Texas; daughter Linda Scott of Calumet; son George Scott and wife Allison of Tonitown, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Nathan Goreham, Megan Goreham, Michael Snow, Steve Snow, Sarah Ayers, Shawn Scott, Mandy Godbee, Matthew Scott and Gretchen Tegeler; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and family in Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Robert Czaplinski, George Czaplinski, Melvin Czaplinski, Burton Czaplinski, Everett Earl Czaplinski; her youngest son, Marion Dale “Skip” Scott; and grandson Matthew Scott.

Our family extends our deepest gratitude for the love and support during this difficult time.

We would like to extend a special thanks to the medical team at Mercy Hospital Kingfisher and Mercy Hospital as well as Homestead Assisted Living Center and Memory Care and Jessica Carnot of Gentle Shepherd Home Health Services for their care of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A memorial service to honor the life of Frances will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, at the First Christian Church of Kingfi sher. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home-Kingfisher.

A memorial donation may be made to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City or the The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis in Tulsa.
